RICHARD J. KALISH was admitted to the California Bar in 1973. He is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley (A.B., 1968) and of Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California (J.D. 1973), where he served as Research Editor of the California Law Review. Mr. Kalish served as the law clerk for the Honorable Albert C. Wollenberg, U.S. District Court, Northern District of California, from 1973 until 1975.|
From 1975 until 1992, Mr. Kalish was in private practice in San Francisco specializing in business and real estate law and litigation. From 1992 through 1997, Mr. Kalish served as Vice President and General Counsel for Drever Partners Inc., a holding company with 700 employees and a multi-state real estate portfolio valued at approximately $650 million. In this capacity Mr. Kalish was responsible for negotiation and documentation associated with real estate acquisitions, financings and workouts, management of litigation, partnership matters, governmental relations, and corporate governance.
Mr. Kalish was an instructor in real estate law in the Graduate School of Business, Golden Gate University, San Francisco, CA in 1986-1987; a member of the City Council, for the City of Belvedere, California, from 1988-1992; and Mayor of the City of Belvedere from 1991-1992. He belongs to the Real Estate Sections of the State Bar of California and the Marin County Bar Association. Mr. Kalish was formerly a member of the Board of Directors for the Marin Center for Independent Living and has served as its General Counsel since 1998. He is currently President of the Rotary Club of San Rafael and a member of the Board of Directors of the San Rafael Chamber of Commerce and of the Marin Symphony. He is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell.
Mr. Kalish represents owners of commercial properties, including office, multi-family and shopping centers, and commercial real estate brokers and agents in a broad spectrum of transactions, including acquisitions and sales, financing, leasing and operational issues.
