JANET A. NEXON was admitted to the California Bar in 1982. She is a graduate of Hastings College of the Law, where she was an editor of the Hastings Law Journal. Ms. Nexon served as law clerk to the Honorable Lloyd King, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California. After her clerkship, she joined the firm of Howard Rice Nemerovski Canady Falk & Rabkin, where she was named a director of the firm in 1990.|
Ms. Nexon was a member of the business department at Howard Rice for over 20 years, with a varied practice which included complex commercial and real property transactions and bankruptcy and insolvency, including business restructurings and workouts. Among her bankruptcy representations, she served as one of the lead bankruptcy counsel in the Chapter 11 reorganization case of Pacific Gas and Electric Company, which culminated in the successful implementation of a plan of reorganization in 2004.
Ms. Nexon joined Kalish Nexon LLP in 2005, and since that time has continued to represent lenders and borrowers in connection with real estate secured loans and troubled loan workouts, and investors in a wide range of real estate-related transactions, including the acquisition, financing, leasing and sale of commercial and multi-family real property.
Ms. Nexon has been recognized as a Northern California Super Lawyer by Law & Politics, which publishes a list of the winners in San Francisco magazine. She is a member of the Real Estate Sections of the State Bar of California and the Marin County Bar Association. She is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell.
